We've had lots of appointments lately. She's seen audiology again, and she continues to show some minor hearing loss in both ears now. The ENT doesn't know if it is conductive or sensorineural. He says that her tubes are not in the correct place anymore, so they are not working. One ear may have some fluid, but the other ear is open and is still showing hearing loss. We are working on getting a surgery scheduled to get her tubes placed again. Then we can get a more accurate hearing test after her tubes are placed. These will be her fourth set of tubes. Poor Ry will also be getting some dental work done while she is under. :(
Rylie's speech is building, and at home she is talking tons. Any hearing loss doesn't seem to be slowing her down much. She says a lot, and I'm starting to understand so much more. She is putting words together and even talking in some sentences. She's a gabber, and we love listening to her. My favorite thing is when she "reads" a book. Occasionally she'll pretend to read to me. She'll point to pictures, say a whole bunch of stuff, and then turn the page for more. I'll post a video of her reading to Aggie.
Rylie is almost at 35" tall. She's grown so much, and I've even let out the hem on her pants that I had to sew last year at this time. We think she is around 8% for her age, which is better than she was in the spring (not even 5%). We're encouraged that she is growing so well!
Lyle has been taking Rylie to swimming classes on Saturdays. Her grandparents (Larry and Barbara) got her the lessons for her birthday. She loves it, and I can tell she is getting better. We hope she'll be ready for the next swimming class (without mom or dad!) when this session is over.
