Now we know

I really, really thought Rylie had outgrown her allergies. Plus, the doctor told us that with her new immune system there was a good chance she would not have the same allergies. Well, we now know that she is not allergic to eggs, milk, and dogs like she used to be. But she is allergic to peanuts. :( It's funny that this bothers me so much after all we've been through. This is so minor, right? But I really don't like how careful we are going to have to be with Rylie around peanuts and all nuts. She had her second bite of peanut butter yesterday, and within two minutes her face was covered in a rash. Within five minutes, she had white bumps all over her eyelids. She was so itchy. I felt terrible for her. After a big dose of Benadryl, the rash went away, but it confirmed that Rylie is in fact very allergic to peanuts. I have read up on the allergy, and everything I read says that after each exposure to peanuts, the reaction can worsen. I'm not sure what precautions the allergy doctor will want to take with Rylie, but we will need to make that appointment soon. Darn! I still hold on to hope that she will grow out of this, but the chances are a lot less with peanuts. Boo! Have I told you how disappointed I am about this? Like I said, it is very minor, but I'm so sorry for her. Peanuts are tasty.

Well, darn! Sorry to hear this cropped up!! Leonard's brother is allergic to nuts....so we are aware of "the routine." We'll just have to settle for being nutty...which we do so well anyway! :-) Take care -- love ya! Jo & Leonard

Hi all -- Doggone it! We'll be real careful and hope R's preschool is too. Susan talks about her K'garten room being a "peanut free" zone. If someone brings something on accident, they have to go somewhere else to eat, I think! LOVE the "first day of preschool" pictures. Rylie looks so cute and happy. Hope today (Friday) is going equally, well. Public Library in Coos Bay free internet time is about to expire. We sign off with love and prayers. L&B

Proverbs 3:5–8

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."
