Rylie got her cast this morning. She surprised us by acting like a pro at getting a cast put on. I talked to her all morning about it and why we needed it. I told her it would help her, and it was her turn to get a cast like her cousin Sofia (who broke her arm this summer) and her friend Cambrie (who also had a broken arm). She frowned when I told her about it, but she was okay with it. She never cried during the 20 minutes of applying plaster. Then when we got in the car afterward she looked down and said, "Help me?" Of course I replied, "Yes, Rylie, it will help you." That was it. She went on with life as normal, and even acted a little proud of her cast. When we got home she ran around the yard, played with her t-ball set (and finally decided to forget using both hands and just swing the bat with one arm). She even climbed the ladder to the slide without any problems.
After her nap, she did say she was all done and pulled at the cast. Hopefully she'll be out of it next week, but I'm mentally preparing for longer since there is a good chance she will require several weeks in the cast. It all depends on how long it takes to stretch her fingers and make them straight. She gets her fingers measured again next Tuesday.
After a million telephone calls and several conversations with cranky schedulers, we finally have a surgery date for Rylie's ear tubes and dental work. It's scheduled at the Children's hospital on January 11.

Super Trooper! And finally someone could put things together in 1 day. Whew. Who knew that could be so difficult! Hugs to all..Cheryl and Torie
Big girl Rylie! Such a brave one. Keep us updated on how the cast works out. We're praying for good and quick straightening.
You done us proud, Rylie. And Mama. And Daddy.
