A little gap

Here's Rylie's new smile. A few weeks back she woke up with a loose tooth and a swollen lip. I took her to the dentist right away, and after waiting for an hour and a half, we got in. They took an x-ray and declared an infection in her tooth which was probably caused by all the decay under her capped tooth. I didn't expect that they would want to pull the tooth on the spot, but they did! No antibiotics or prep time for Rylie. Just a shot in the mouth while I held her down. Then the dentist pulled away. It was a horrific experience with lots of tears from Rylie, me, and our foster baby. As soon as it was done, Rylie stopped crying and acted like life was back to normal. Her resilience is amazing, and I was proud of her for that. I'm still recovering from the awful experience. :)

Then last weekend, Rylie's bottom tooth came out. The dentist told us that it was a normal loose tooth, and her permanent (or at least we hope!) tooth pushed this one out. She's just ahead of the curve on that.

The tooth fairy brought $2 for each tooth. And for losing her first tooth in such a traumatic way, she got a card making kit and a book.

Our friend Torie who has had a much more horrific experience recovering from her BMT last year is finally HOME in Colorado. Whoohoo! We are thankful for this answer to prayer. She is still weaning from some annoying meds, so we are still praying for a quick recovery. But at least she can be back home with her mom and her grandmas can get some longer breaks. Torie is also a pretty amazing red head who shows us what resilience is all about.

sounds like a scary experience to me, but she does look awfully cute with that little gap.

Wow, what an experience, but I'm not too surprised that Rylie bounced back quickly. What gift did Mom get for her role in all this? :-) Also good news about Torie....we continue to pray for everyone! Love - Jo & Leonard

So cute! It's a good thing the Tooth Fairy came; maybe she could leave a spa day under your pillow! We continue to look to Rylie every day for inspiration and hope - and to you and Lyle, also. Thanks for all your support. All our love, Cheryl and Torie

Proverbs 3:5–8

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."
