Happy New Year! Here is a list of Rylie's top adventures/achievements for 2009 in no particular order:
2. Visiting friends in Minnesota in May and learning that Rylie is still 100% engrafted
3. Getting the all-clear to be around kids again
4. Taking three road trips to Kansas to visit family, one girls trip to Moab, UT, one trip to Durango, CO (where she loved dancing on the streets and watching bike races), and one trip to Lamar, CO, to watch her cousin play baseball in the Cal Ripken World Series
5. Learning to run and walking up stairs
6. First day of preschool
7. Word explosion in the fall
8. Only had one sedation this year (three in 2007 and seven in 2008 and one scheduled for Jan. 11, 2010)
9. Taking music class and swimming lessons (and practicing her swimming technique--kick, kick, kick--in the living room and bathtub)
10. Meeting lots of new friends
2009 was a great year for Rylie, and 2010 shows much promise. Last year at this time I told Rylie her new year's resolution was to drink on her own and potty in the toilet. She picked up drinking on her own quickly in 2009, but potty training has been a struggle. This summer she went almost a week without any accidents and then just refused to sit on the potty again. No amount of bribery could sway her. So . . . we think 2010 might be her year for that. If not, I may lose my mind, but there's not much left of that anyway. :)
On a serious note, our redheaded friend Torie is headed to Minnesota this weekend for her BMT scheduled this month. We are so thankful that Rylie is doing so well, and we want the same for Torie. They start the crazy work-up week on Monday, and I know all the emotions and nerves it brings. We're saying prayers for peace and strength for Torie and her family. We wish them a miraculous 2010.
And we wish the same for you, our Rylie fans. A beautiful 2010 full of miracles and joy! Happy 2010!!!
