Thyroid and glasses

We had Rylie's thyroid tested a couple of weeks ago (a BMT mom gave me the idea), because she seemed tired and sluggish. We found out last Friday that Rylie's thyroid test came back positive for hypothyroidism. It seems like she will only need to take a pill (I crush it up and add a little water and then put in a syringe) until her thyroid starts working again. It's possible that the chemo she took during the BMT process killed her thyroid, but we hope it is only damaged from the chemo and will eventually regulate again. We hope to learn more about it during our next clinic visit tomorrow.

Rylie saw the eye doctor today. The doctor we saw last year has since moved, so this doctor was new for us. As we had to catch her up on all of Rylie's medical history, it reminded me of what a wild year we have had, but it also made me so thankful for how far we've come. The eye doctor said that her left eye is slightly better than her last prescription, but she would really like to see Rylie back in the MiraFlex glasses she originally wore (the big rubbery ones). The old ones we have are now too small for Ry, so it looks like we may be getting new ones, perhaps pink or red this time around. I guess the MiraFlex glasses are better for staying in place for a toddler, and this is important since the biggest reason for Ry's glasses is because of her stigmatism. The glasses do not help if they are not placed correctly on her head.

That's all for now, but we hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

Proverbs 3:5–8

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."
