Yesterday's appointment

Rylie's appointment yesterday went well, and we are always so grateful to hear the doctor and nurses sound so impressed by Rylie's good moods and activity level. Rylie's rash and scalp are much better from the cream and shampoo, so they're letting us taper CSA again! The doctor said that he fully expects Rylie to break out again since we are tapering, but we'll just do the same thing to keep the rash under control. The plan is to take the taper really slow and keep applying creams to any rashes, as well as continuing the special shampoo. Our doctor is calling the rash GVHD, but he says that we'll be careful to keep it under control so it doesn't become something unmanageable. Right now the rash is so mild and not a huge concern, but of course, we are keeping a very careful eye on it.

They tested Rylie's thyroid level at clinic yesterday, and the doctor called us this morning with the results.  Ry's hypothyroidism in now hyperthyroidism due to the medication she started taking. The doctors will be tweaking the dose until we find the right balance. I suspected that her thyroid was high since she woke up at 4:00 a.m. several times this week and only wanted to play and eat. An overactive thyroid does the opposite of lack of thyroid. It makes you hyper and energized, as well as speed up your metabolism. Lyle and I joke that we think we should take a little of the thyroid meds. Seems like a great "upper," especially when we need to keep up with Rylie!

Rylie got her new glasses on Monday, and they seem to be staying in place better. I hope to post some photos soon.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas!

Proverbs 3:5–8

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."
