Rylie Strong

Rylie is growing stronger and stronger since she's been running around exploring her "new" home. She loves the stairs and crawls up them. She's still learning how to get down the stairs safely. We're just so proud that she is making so much progress after so many months of being sick. There hasn't been much eating progress to speak of. Rylie is still sucking on chips and now eating rice cereal. I think we'd make a lot of calorie progress if I could get her to drink rice milk or some other type of dairy-free drink. (We don't know if her new immune system is sensitive to dairy yet, so we are still avoiding dairy products for now.)

Rylie's hair is starting to grow slowly. I was afraid it would come in a different color, but it looks reddish to me! There are definitely some blond-looking hair, too, but I think once it is in it will be the same Rylie red! :) I can't wait for pig-tails again.

Our appointment on Wednesday went really well, and we liked the BMT doctor we met with. The doctor and nurse had obviously read over Rylie's records sent from Minnesota, and they were very happy to see Rylie looking so great. The doctor told us that we didn't need to go back to the clinic until next Wednesday, and they feel comfortable with us only coming in once a week! This is great news for us since the Children's Hospital is a
cross town.

Some prayer requests: please continue to pray that Rylie transitions to normal eating soon. I try not to complain, but I really, really don't like messing with the NG tube. Blah! Also, pray that the rash that Rylie sometimes gets is nothing serious. Rashes can be GVHD related, but for now the doctors are only keeping an eye on it. I'm not extremely concerned, but I do wish she didn't have any rashes so we didn't have to be nervous about it. :)

Sending lots of love from Arvada!

Hi guys!
Thanks for the update on Rylie! I'm glad she's getting stronger! She looks great in the pictures! Thanks so much for inviting up on this journey with you! We're thrilled that we can proclaim God's goodness in Rylie's life! She's a precious miracle! We look forward to catching up with you guys soon. Please, please let us know if there's anything we can do to help. And please let us know when you are able and feel comfortable having visitors. We definitely want Rylie to be well, so we understand if visitors aren't a great idea right now.

Sending lots of love,
Jenny (and the Wards)

Proverbs 3:5–8

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."
