Sweet home

We landed in Jefferson County minutes before 1:00 yesterday afternoon. It was the easiest flight I've ever been on--thank you Aunt Janie for finding our ride home! Rylie is having a blast exploring her old stomping grounds. It took her awhile to warm up to it, but tonight she is happy to be home! And we couldn't be more thrilled to be here, too. As we move forward, we know that the last five months will become a fuzzy memory.

Today was the first day of Lyle being back in the office. Rylie asked for Dad at least four times while he was gone. We were both happy to see him when he got home.

The NG tube feedings are going okay. Rylie is tolerating the large amounts of formula we're feeding her through the tube. This shows that Rylie's tummy is ready for food again, but her motivation and taste buds are not quite up to it. She did suck on some barbeque chips today, but she wouldn't swallow any.

We have our next clinic appointment at Children's Hospital on Wednesday afternoon. Rylie also has some appointments set up within the next couple of weeks to be evaluated for speech and physical therapies. In the meantime, we'll be settling into our old routine. We're still cautious when planning activities that may expose Rylie to potential infection since she still has a compromised immune system. Rylie is still on an immunosuppressant drug called cyclosporin. The plan is to start tapering this drug in November as long as Rylie doesn't show any signs of graft vs. host disease.

Soooo glad you're back! Let us know when you need some company - and we'll let you know when we've been sniffle-free for a while.

Proverbs 3:5–8

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."
