No more chemo!

Day -1

The IV machine beeped at five minutes past noon signally the last dose of chemo was complete. We are thrilled to be done with this phase. Rylie is still going strong, but certainly does not like her oral meds. She's slowing down some as well, and is completely on IV nutrition now since she can't keep any food down. :(

Tomorrow is the big day. The nurse told us that the transplant will be at 1:00 PM. The transplant itself won't take long, and we have heard it is a little anticlimactic. They expect the cord blood will be completely infused over a 20 to 30 minute period. Rylie will stay in her room for the entire thing. There are no knives, no sedation; it's just like a normal blood transfusion. After the transplant, Rylie will be working hard to build a new immune system from scratch.

Below is one more video this side of transplant. As you can see, Rylie is strong! For all the mothers and grandmothers, don't freak out when you see Rylie about to fall out of the crib. Dad's arms are close by in case of a topple. (And try to ignore the very proud momma in the background!)

Glad to hear and see that Rylie is doing good and still 'strong'. She is very cute in the video. She needs one of those inflatable muscle suits then she will be set. Thanks for the post we look forward to reading about how things are going. We are praying for the transplant to take hold and the cells to grow 'strong' too. Wyatt sayes HI! Take care and try to get out for a break when you can.

AN IRISH BLESSING FOR A STRONG IRISH LASS!

May the good saints protect you,
And bless you today.
And may troubles ignore you,
Each step of the way.

May you live a long life
Full of gladness and health,
With a pocket full of gold
As the least of you wealth.
May the dreams you hold dearest,
Be those which come true,
The kindness you spread,
Keep returning to you.

Proverbs 3:5–8

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."
