Another big struggle for Rylie has been keeping down oral medications. We are trying to switch a lot of her medications to oral instead of IV in preparation of going back to RMH. I think she has at least 6 medications that she needs to be able to keep down every day. Some of those are taken twice a day. We're overwhelmed by this since Rylie still throws-up several times a day, even without yucky medicine being forced down her throat.
Rylie's WBC and ANCs are declining since she has gotten off of the growth factor drug. Today's counts: 3.1 and 1.7. We hope her body adjusts soon and starts to build her counts on her own. Some of the medications that Rylie takes is still suppressing her immune system, so even though her counts have been higher lately, her cells are still too young and too suppressed to work like a normal immune system. The doctors say that it can take 9 to 12 months for her to build a strong immune system. Guess she'll get familiar with her mask and not going out in public much until she is off those medications.
Please be praying that we can leave the hospital soon and the transition is easy. Thanks, everyone!

YAY! Praying Rylie is out soon!
Lauren had 17 doses of meds every day when she was first released, although we were down to just 5 when we came back to Illinois. By day +180 she was down to 4 doses a week... and now nothing! Those initial days were hard to get through sometimes... felt like as soon as you finished one 'meds' session, the next one started!
We are so excited to be able to come back and say hello to new Hurler friends and say goodbye to little Dominik who got his kidney a few weeks ago... as long as 5 months was for us, I can't imagine living at RMH for 16months!
See you all soon!
Keep going Rylie... you are doing great!

Great news, Rylie!! We're looking forward to you all being under one roof at the RMH, slurping down the meds and chomping on Cheerios. Hugs and love from Colorado!
Praying for release on Sunday! So excited for Rylie. Don't worry about the #s so much, they'll bounce back soon!
