It's day +31.
Today we welcomed our baby back to her old self. We've seen small glimpses the last couple days, but this morning we hope she is here to stay. She is making us laugh with all her old tricks. She is talking, playing, singing, and standing by herself today! We couldn't be happier. Last night Rylie took five laps around the nurses station in the red wagon. The paci was in place, and she was interested in everyone and everything.
One of Rylie's labs came back positive. She has a pretty minor virus (if you have a healthy immune system) called adenovirus. The doctors believe this is the cause for the fevers. There is a medicine she can take to help, but it is pretty intense and often damaging to the kidneys. Since Rylie has had fevers for three weeks, the doctors want to try the medicine. The kidney protectant counter medicine is an oral one that is hard to keep down. Rylie had her first dose last night. Please pray that the medicine works so she won't have many doses and the kidneys are protected.
We still don't know anything about Rylie's liver "infarction." The doctors are keeping an eye on it, but at this point, they aren't going to do anything about it.
Rylie's counts are the best yet: 5.2 WBC and 3.5 ANC. No wonder Ry is feeling so great. Plus, this is the first day since transplant that Rylie hasn't had to have a platelet transfusion. Her body is healing. Praise our Lord and Savior!

So glad that Rylie is back to her old self! Praying for her as I know how serious the Adenovirus can become for post transplant children. Did the docs happen to mention how many 'copies' of the virus she has?
Have a great afternoon and enojy the happy girl!
There is a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes...Gary and I are so happy for every piece of good news! love Deb
We are encouraged with your good report! We are praying for a full recovery and Rylie to have a full long life!

Rylie! You're just flying up the charts. Good girl! It's great to hear you've got your cheer back. We'll keep praying for your complete recovery and move to the RMH soon.
Woohoo! So fun to read the descriptions of Rylie enjoying her days! Hugs to all including Grandma B.:)
It is great to hear such wonderfull news!!!! Hopefully the days are a little more bearable now that she is feeling better. Rylie keep going on the laps, I'm sure your Mom and Dad are enjoying the exercise and being out of the room with you. We will be praying for a quick recovery from the virus and the medicine. Rylie! I'm so excited for your great numbers! Keep it up, baby!
One recommendation from 505 - Request Alyssa to deliver oral meds on night shift one night. It's no fun for anyone, but she gets em down! And so far they've all stayed down. Carolyn on days has also had some success with Gracie. I suppose learning how to give em the hard way has gotta happen at some point if we ever want to get out of here.
Dear Ones,
We are jubilant with each positive report! We look for the next one with prayers and Thanksgiving and send Matthew 19: 13-15.
Love You,
Joyce and Everett

love, the messinas
Amen!
Hooray for Rylie! Sounds like she's doing awesome! I'm glad they finally determined what's been causing the fevers! Hope she can kick it soon with the medicine and that the kidney protection medicine doesn't make her too sick! We're so glad she's getting back to her old self!
Take care,
The Wards

This message brought tears to my eyes!!! I'm so glad she's feeling better. I can't even imagine the pain and ickiness she's been feeling for so long. It must feel so good for her!!!
Praise God!!!
We are praying for the oral med to do its thing for the persistent fever. Wonderful news that Rylie is active and moving around. The reports are all upbeat and we are so very thankful for the Docs, nurses, technicians and caregivers that are with you in this journey. Love and Hugs to all--
